Appointment of Church Development Leader

Rodborough Tabernacle URC are excited to announce they have filled the post of Church Development Leader. This Church wants to reach out to the wider community and be relevant in today’s world, hoping to attract new people. They are known for being open and inclusive.

Kim, who grew up in the parish of Rodborough, attended playgroup, brownies and guides at the Tab, as well as the Church after becoming a Christian at 14. She was the youngest member of Rodborough Tab URC as a teenager. After working away as a Professional Actor for 25 years, Kim is delighted to be working at and for her home church. She is a people person and wants everyone to feel welcome. With the help of Simon Helme, the minister, and the Elders, Kim has laid out a 2030 Vision plan which was recently approved by the members. Our new Vision Statement is Inspired by Jesus, Serving the Community, Welcoming All.

Kim has started up a worship group, is involved with pastoral visits as well as meeting new people and is keen to do more activities for the community. Kim has already held a community Nature Event at the Tab within her first few weeks of starting her post, with the help of Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust. It was well attended and great fun with activities for children, poetry, a nature walk and lots of tea and cake! There will be quarterly Poetry events in the Little Chapel, a Summer Afternoon tea party and the Church and Little Chapel will be open for visits as part of the Heritage Open Days. There will also be courses to explore life’s questions and faith in August and an Alpha course will run from October.
